Huon Pine (Lagarostrobus franklinii) has  a oil content of Methyl eugenol making it waterproof, impervious to insects, easy to bend without breaking and finishing to a high lustre. It has a couple of different figures, making it attractive as well as functionally durable. The trees are over 1000 years old and come from a stockpile of trees salvaged when rivers were dammed 50 years ago; or from standing dead, or trees buried some 38,000 in mud. It is slow growing and is carefully harvested.
