Beautiful Engelmann bookmatched top. Graded AAAA only due to a sap pocket on the inside face surface.
The
inside surface accommodates a Master grade tenor ukulele or mandolin,
or a near Master GM03 guitar with centreline on outer edge of the board;
see photos. Guitar pattern on this side is wide enough for an 8” lower
bout. The sap pocket could possibly disappear in thicknessing.
The
planed outside surface could also be the face of a GM03 or Dreadnought
guitar, as this board is so well-quartered that the bookmatch goes right
through, and the sap pocket does not touch this surface.
This
is strong wood. Grain is straight, fine, tight; a 90 degree vertical
cut. 110% stiff. 20 - 30 lines per inch. An experienced luthier would
build with this exceptional top. Aged 10 - 20 years.
Length 22”, 56 cm; Width 8.875”, 22.5 cm; Thickness .181”
Weight 16 oz; Density 24.40 lb/cubic foot.
