Western red cedar is from the interior of British Columbia, Canada. It has very tight, straight grain to get the optimal stiffness. It tends to be much lighter than the spruces with noticably less stiffness. The vertical is very consistent to 90 degrees. The color varies from light browns to reds to dark browns.
