Sawchyn Collection Sitka Guitar Tops
Roughly 500 tops are from Retired Luthier Peter Sawchyn. He bought them dry in 8/2009--the wood has been aged over 16 years. The sap in fibres of aged wood has crystalyzed, which makes the soundboard more resonant. The vertical cut of these tops is 90 degrees with little variation. The annular rings per inch vary from 35 to 19 on the best, AAAA.
