This
could be a Master Grade top for the right instrument. Tight and
straight grain at 26 - 33 lines per inch. 90 degree vertical cut.
Medullary rays.
The
end of a shallow sap pocket on bass side of guitar pattern was
discovered when planing; this would require attention if using the
inside surface for the face of a guitar. It would likely disappear in
thicknessing. Otherwise, the boards easily accommodate a ukelele,
mandolin or bouzouki. And, the outside surface would make for a fine
face of a guitar, as the bookmatch is excellent all the way through, the
top is thick, and there is no evidence of sap pocket on this side.
Engelmann white colour is consistent but for a darker red-brown ribbon near centreline.
